We are delighted to announce that the second issue of 212 is now out in stores worldwide. With our Autumn/Winter 2016 issue, our theme of Locality captures a frame of mind that has carried us from place to place; from the fields in which Turkish oil wrestlers grapple, through the living room of a Chilean exiled in San Francisco, to a replica of Paris in China. We have sought out phenomena that might be called ‘homegrown,’ and considered how they frame communities’ experience and interact with the world outside.
212 is a new biannual magazine published in Spring 2016. It is based out of Istanbul, published and distributed internationally. It contains short fiction and long-form reportage; distinctive photo essays and revealing interviews. Even though it was born in the city where east meets west (as the love-worn cliche goes), the magazine seeks to transcend the loaded dichotomies of Istanbul’s favourite metaphor, and extends its gaze far beyond the region.
